Eilean Donan Castle and Venus

"Probably one of Scotland's most photographed landmarks. Eilean Donan Castle sits on a small island in Loch Duich in the western Highlands of Scotland. It is connected to the mainland by a footbridge and lies about half a mile from the village of Dornie.

It's a very picturesque castle which is widely familiar from many photographs and appearances in film and television. The castle was founded in the 13th century, but was destroyed in the 18th century. The present buildings are the result of 20th century reconstruction. Eilean Donan Castle is the home of the Clan Macrae.

The castle is usually illuminated at night so I was lucky to get this silhouette shot. The star (or planet??) was a pleasing bonus too. Got my feet a bit wet trying to get close to the calm waters and lose the weeds floating about in the foreground.

Edit - I have been reliably informed that the "star" is in fact Venus and the fainter one to the right and lower is Jupiter."
