Eilean Donan Castle and Venus

"Probably one of Scotland's most photographed landmarks. Eilean Donan Castle sits on a small island in Loch Duich in the western Highlands of Scotland. It is connected to the mainland by a footbridge and lies about half a mile from the village of Dornie.

It's a very picturesque castle which is widely familiar from many photographs and appearances in film and television. The castle was founded in the 13th century, but was destroyed in the 18th century. The present buildings are the result of 20th century reconstruction. Eilean Donan Castle is the home of the Clan Macrae.

The castle is usually illuminated at night so I was lucky to get this silhouette shot. The star (or planet??) was a pleasing bonus too. Got my feet a bit wet trying to get close to the calm waters and lose the weeds floating about in the foreground.

Edit - I have been reliably informed that the "star" is in fact Venus and the fainter one to the right and lower is Jupiter."

Mist Over Loch tay

"Just up from Killin is this lone pine tree and we were treated to a fabulous sunset over a misty loch."

"Taken from Ben Arthur at sunrise. It was a great morning after being up most of the night taking pictures of the aurora. Had just enough battery left to catch the morning sun."

Eastern Promise, Forvie Nature Reserve

"Spring Equinox North of Aberdeen. The sky was beautiful all day with the promise of a good sunset. I sat for an hour watching a short eared owl hunting over the dunes and wondering if anything was going to happen, all of a sudden the sun disappeared behind me and the sky came to life."

So nice to get a bit of weather worth getting out into...back to one of my favourite spots from last year, Loch Rusky, to find that the boats have been returned to the water in anticipation of the new trout season.

Lovely natural rocks along this bit of the Forths' coast. This wa towards the end of the evening and the residual light of the sunset from before was still lingering around on the clouds. By now the main splash of the waves that were giving me sooo much bother before were far enough in the distance that i was, well, less concerned about the spray! lol! :D x. Location inspired by Rod Goodwin (blue fin art) - see his wonderful stream @ www.flickr.com/photos/20966211@N03/ Thanks Rod :D x.

For the first time in a long time I went a wee off road (as in wander as my Mini isnt made for off-roading!) adventure with the camera on what was a lovely Sunday evening sunset...ideal after a great weekend.
This was in Glen Lednock near Comrie looking west - you can just see Loch Earn in the valley. It was baltic, wind was fresh to say the least, but there was not a sound, so peaceful!
